How do I install a driver using a crossover cable on Windows 8?

Answer

*Please follow these instructions after you have changed your TCP/IP settings on your computer and after you disable the Driver Enforcement Signature.

  1. Press your Windows Button and "X" together to pull up your Power User Menu.
  2. Select "Control Panel".
  3. Under Hardware and Sound, select Devices and Printers.
  4. Click on "Add a Printer" on top of the page.
  5. Click on "The printer I want isn't listed", and then Next. 
  6. Select "Add a printer using TCP/IP address or Hostname".
  7. Type in your IP Address, and click Next. 

  8. The screen will stay on "Detecting TCP/IP Port" screen for about 30 seconds.

  9. Select Custom and click on Settings.

  10. Under protocol change it to LPR, and then in Queue Name you can name it how you'd like, such as teh type of engraver you have. Then click OK.

  11. Click Next and Windows will communicate with the engraver.

  12. Don’t bother with choosing the Manufacturer and Printer. Just click on "Have Disk".

  13. Then click on Browse.

  14. Click on Computer on the left side.

  15. If you downloaded the driver off the website you will need to double Click on your C Drive. If you are installing from the disk you need to double click your CD drive.

  16. Double Click on the Epilog_Driver folder to open it. Through the CD drive you will need to click on Driver folder.

  17. Double click the driver folder that you need.

  18. Once you open the folder you will see the file name populate for you. Click Open.

  19. Click Ok.

  20.   Click Next.

  21.  Select Replace Current Driver and click Next.

  22. You can rename the engraver here or click Next.

  23. Do not print a test page. Click Finish.
