PTPublisher only works when logged in as the administrator. What specific rights are required?

To install PTPublisher with the proper rights install it while logged into the user who will be running the program.  You may also give specific rights using the procedures below:  

1. Printer. The administrator must open the Printers and Faxes Folder, right-click on the "Printer Name" and click Properties. Click on the Security tab. Click on the Everyone group or the specific group you would like to give access. Check the allow box for Print, Manage Printers and Manage Documents. Click OK.

2. PTI Folder. Browse to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data (XP/2000) OR C:\Program Data (Vista/7/8/10) and give users Full Control to the PTI folder and all sub folders. To do so, right click on PTI folder and click on Properties. Click on the Security tab. Click on Everyone group or the specific group you would like to give access. Click on Allow for Full Control. Click Apply and OK.

 

Note: Application Data and Program Data are hidden folders. To access hidden files and folders on XP/2000, go to Tools – Folder Options – View tab. Click on 'Show hidden files and folders'. Click on Apply and OK. On Vista/7/8/10, go to the Organize button on the top toolbar, choose Folder and Search Options – View tab. Click on 'Show hidden files, folders, drives'. Click on Apply and OK.

 

3. Application Folder. Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Primera Technology and give users Full Control to the Primera Technology folder and all subfolders. To do so, right click on PTI folder and click on Properties. Click on the Security tab. Click on Everyone group or the specific group you would like to give access. Click on Allow for Full Control. Click Apply and OK.

 

4. Run as Admin. (Optional) Run PTPublisher as Admin.  Browse to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Primera Technology\PTPublisher\PTPublisher.exe". Right click on PTPublisher.exe. Choose Properties. Click on the Compatibility tab. Check "Run this program as administrator". Click OK.

6. Temporarily disable virus protection / Add an exception. (Optional) Some virus protection softwares may disable certain PTPublisher functionality. If you find that disabling the virus protection fixes the problem you should be able to add an exception to ignore PTPublisher when scanning for viruses.
