Question
Why do I have a no income error?

Answer

This error indicates that you have not entered any taxable income. You must enter some type of income in order to e-file a return. If you did not receive any income, you are not be required to file a return.

How to correct this error:

From our homepage, click on "sign in" to enter the username and password to access your account. Select the current year return that is rejected.

Next you will select the Income Summary tab on the top of the page. You will first need to check any income reporting forms you may have received on the Income Checklist and then click Save and Continue. Enter any income received. If this is a joint return please be sure to designate which spouse the earnings are for by clicking on the appropriate name and SSN on the entry screen. If you do not have any earnings please consult the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 or contact Customer Service for assistance.

Once you have made your correction you will then save and continue to the end of your return and resubmit.  If you do not have any income, you cannot efile a return.

*We strongly recommend checking the status of your return in 24-48 hours using the Login to My Income Tax Return link to verify that your return has been accepted.
