If 'PINTypeCode' in the Return Header has the value "Self-Select On-Line", and
'Spouse Date Of Birth' has a value, then 'Spouse Prior Year AGI or 'Spouse Prior Year PIN' or
'Spouse Electronic Filing PIN' must have a value.
This error means that you have left out a required piece of data on the 8879 page for the SPOUSE on the return,
To Correct:
Instructions for Direct Input Software:
- Navigate to the 8879 form input page
- You may select Practitioner PIN Method or Self Select Pin method
- Make sure the spouse has valid PIN information entered and press Save
Instructions for Interview Software:
- Once inside the return hover your mouse over the Miscellaneous tab, then click on Practitioner PIN
- You may select Practitioner PIN Method or Self Select Pin method
- Make sure the spouse has valid PIN information entered and press Save & Continue Return
