Question
Problem with my dependents name or SSN

Answer

Error IND-512, Problem with my dependents name or SSN

If your indicates that one of your dependent's name and SSN does not match the IRS records. The IRS uses the first four letters of your last name to verify the SSN.  If there is more than one last name on the SS card, try the one you have listed second alone and resend this. If it resolves the issue, you will know that the IRS has this name listed as the last name.

How to correct this error:

Next, at the My Info tab, scroll down to Dependent's information where you will edit your dependent to correct this error. Please note that if the SSN is incorrectly entered, you will delete the dependent and then select to "add a new dependent". If you have entered your dependent's name and SSN correctly you will need to contact the Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213 as they are the record keepers for the IRS.
