64 Bit Drivers for older Epilog Laser Systems

Question
I have an Epilog Legend 24EX and was using a windows XP laptop to operate it. However, the laptop has taken an unfortunate turn for the worse and my replacement is a Windows 7 64bit laptop. How can I make it work?

Answer
Epilog only has 64 bit drivers for the Epilog Zing, Mini, Helix, EXT, FiberMark and Fusion lasers. Unfortunately we have no plans to release 64bit drivers for our previous model machines and thus, you must either continue using a 32bit system to run your machine or use a Virtual Machine on Windows XP. There are still options on purchasing a 32bit operating system when buying a new version of Windows OS software, as well as additional options within Win7 64bit that allows you to run 32bit drivers and legacy devices (older hardware) within a 64bit environment. You can run 32bit drivers on a 64bit system using XP MODE, which is available in the top three versions of Windows7 64bit (Professional/Ultimate/Enterprise) and is basically a Virtual Machine of Windows XP. Win7 64 Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate have the above functionality built into the software, but Starter, Home and Home Premium do not. You must have a full version of Windows XP Pro (disk) and a Virtual Machine software (many Freeware or Shareware versions available) to do this on the lower three versions of Win7 64bit.
