The drive in the Bravo does not show up as a recorder in Discribe. (BravoPro or II - Mac)
Try the following suggestions to get the drive recognized.
1. Plugin Sequence. Try this sequence for getting the Mac to recognize the unit's burner drive:
2. USB Cable. Try a new Cable.
3. USB Card Slot. Try the USB card in a different PCI slot.
4. Alternate Mac. Try the Bravo on a new Mac. You do not need to install any software. Just plug in the USB cable and after a few seconds you should be able to see the drive in System Profiler.
5. USB 2.0 Ports / Hubs. Try different ports on the USB 2.0 card using the proper plugin sequence above. Try another USB 2.0 cable. (Any USB cable is a USB 2.0 cable.) Unplug other USB devices. The PCI slot that the card is plugged into may not be able to handle multiple simultaneous USB connections. Do not plug the Bravo II into a hub or a pass through port on an external drive.
6 USB 2.0 Make sure you have a USB 2.0 port on your Mac. The Bravo II requires a high speed USB 2.0 port to properly function. A USB 2.0 port looks exactly the same as a regular USB port so there is no way to tell what you have by looking at the port. Running the Bravo II on a USB 1.1 connection (regular USB) will make it burn more slowly and may cause other issues. You will be limited to about 4x burning CDs and about 1x burning DVDs.Generally speaking most G5 Macs have USB 2.0 ports. G4 Macs, eMacs, iMacs, iBooks and other Macs generally do not have USB 2.0 ports. You will need to purchase a USB 2.0 PCI card. To see if you have a USB 2.0 port go to your system profiler. You should see a USB Highspeed Bus - The speed should be up to 480 Mb per second. ("USB 2.0 ATAPI Bridge" is not a USB port! - This is the Mac reading your Bravo as USB 2.0 device. - See the screen capture below.)
