Answer

How do I set up a Disc Image Job in Primo DVD? How do I create a Global Image?

What: Disc Image Job allows you to copy any CD or DVD master. This job type has two phases. First you must create the image by reading a master disc and saving it to your hard drive in the Global Image format (*.gi). Second you must set up your Disc Image Job and select the image that you saved in the global image format.

Recommended for: All CD or DVD types (Audio CD, Data CD, Software Install Disc, Video CD, DVD, DVD-ROM, etc.) This procedure is useful when you need to make several copies of the same disc and you do not want to read your master at the beginning of every job. Also, by having the Global-Image file stored on the hard disk, you may access the source disc immediately.

How to:

Phase 1: Create the Global Image file (Skip this section if you have already created the image file. Go to Phase 2.)

1. Place the master in the drive located in the duplicator unit.

2. Go to the Drive menu - Build Global Image or via the Primo Starter - right click on Disc Image Job Icon - Choose Build Global Image.

3. Type the path and the name of the Global Image file in the Global image box or click on the Browse button to open a standard Windows open dialog.

4. Click Build.

Note: It may take several minutes for the image to build depending on the read speed of your drive.

Phase 2: Setting up a Disc Image Job

Step 1 - Select File - New Job - Global-Image or Other Image - An image job setup panel will be created in the job setup window.

Step 2 - Select the recorder(s) that will record this job by double clicking the drive in the drive status window. Make sure the red arrow is pointing to the left.

Step 3 - Select the number of copies and the recording speed.

Step 4 - Check the print box if you want to print a label on the disk. Type the full path and name of your image file into the box, or click on the Browse button to open a standard Windows Open dialog to locate the file. If you have not yet created a label to print on the disc click on the SureThing button to open SureThing and create a label.

Step 5 - Type the full path and name of your image file into the box, or click on the Browse button to open a standard Windows Open dialog to locate the file.

Step 6 - Click on the red Record button

Note: Global Images are not compressed files. The files can be quite large. A CD can be up to 800 MB and a DVD can be up to 4.7 GB. Make sure you have enough hard drive space to accommodate these large image files.

Other Image types

Several other image file types may be selected to create your image job. They include iso, ima, img, image, udi. For best results Primera recommends using only the global image (GI) file format.
