Answer

LX900 PTStatus Errors: Missing Cartridge, Invalid Cartridge, Offline, Not connected, Missing Printhead.

Could not find Color Label 900 - This error appears when launching PTStatus from the Start menu. This error appears if the printer driver is either not installed or has been renamed.

Color Label 900 is not connected - This error occurs when launching PTStatus from the Start menu. This error typically occurs if the USB cable is not connected but the printer driver is installed.

  • Please connect power and USB to the printer and run PTStatus again.
  • If the USB cable is connected, this error could indicate a hardware problem with the LX900, the USB cable or the port on the computer.
  • Remove the printhead and relaunch PTStatus. If the status monitor opens, the printhead may be defective.
  • Deleting and reinstalling the driver may resolve this problem.
  • Run the Status Monitor as Administrator (Windows 7 and 8). Browse to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Primera Technology\PTStatus\PTStatus.exe". Right click on the exe and choose Properties. Click on the Compatibility tab. Check "Run this program as an administrator."

Offline Error  - This error appears in the upper left corner of the status monitor and occurs if there is a communication problem while the status monitor is already open. If the USB is connected, this error could indicate some other communication problem with the LX900, the USB cable or the port on the computer.

  • Ink Levels will appear normal in this state. Last known values are displayed. Click the refresh icon to see actual levels.
  • Deleting and reinstalling the driver may resolve this problem.

Missing Cartridges - This error can occur if there is no printhead installed, if no cartridges are installed, if the printhead and cartridges are installed but the copper contacts for the printhead are dirty, or if the printhead is defective. Note: Reinstalling the driver will NOT resolve this issue.

Invalid Cartridge Error (5) - If PTStatus reports that the cartridges are invalid with a number (5) error, this indicates a physical obstruction to printhead movement. The maintenance station is out of place, the RFID sensor is bent, or a piece inside the printer has fallen loose and is in the way. Note: Reinstalling the driver will NOT resolve this issue.

Invalid Cartridge Error (3) - If PTStatus reports that the cartridges are invalid with a number (3) error, this indicates incorrect cartridges are installed, such as Bravo 4100 cartridges or other cartridges of similar shape and size, or the RFID data chip on the cartridge is defective. Note: Reinstalling the driver will NOT resolve this issue.

Invalid Cartridge Error (8) - This cartridge is defective or refilled. If the cartridge is not refilled and this error occurs on multiple cartridges, the printer may need repair. Please contact tech support.

Printhead icon shows Red X and 0% .  This indicates the printhead has reached the end of its life. You should order a new printhead. It is not necessary to immediately change the printhead. You can continue to use it until you notice print quality degradation issues such as light printing, lines through the print or missing colors.
Printhead icon shows Red X ONLY .  This means the software is not communicating with the printhead. The printer could be unplugged or the software may not have sufficient rights to communicate with the printhead. If there are no other problems and the printer is printing fine you may continue to print to the printer even though the software cannot read the life remaining. To fix this problem give the access rights discussed in this article: Can I print from a user (non-admin) account? (LX900)
