If your error indicates that the Primary taxpayer's SSN has already been used on a return with the filing status of Married Filing Separate, you must also use this filing status to file online or head of household if you qualify.
How to correct this error:
From our homepage, click on sign in to access your account. Select the current return that is rejected.
Next, select the Personal and Family tab. To correct this error you are required to also use the filing status Married Filing Separate OR Head of Household.
If your filing status was in fact Married Filing Separate and you still received this error code you will be required to paper file this year. You will do this by clicking on the Tax Summary tab save and continue through the software. Select to view/print your forms, print for mailing. Please note that you must include all income reporting documents, W-2's, 1099's, etc, when paper filing. You will also need to print and mail your state return.
Once you have made your correction you will then save and continue to the end of your return and resubmit. (if not mailing)
