Question
New Jersey Blind or Disabled Additional Exemption

Answer

Blind or Disabled

You can claim a $1,000 exemption if you were blind or disabled on the last day of the tax year. If you are filing jointly, your spouse can take a $1,000 exemption if he or she was blind or disabled on the last day of the tax year.

You cannot claim this exemption for your domestic partner or dependents.

You must enclose a copy of the doctor’s certificate or other medical records evidencing legal blindness or total and permanent disability the first time you claim the exemption(s).
