If you received an error indicating that the Third-Party Designee name or Pin Number entered is incorrect or has invalid characters, please log in and correct this information and resend. This information is only required if you are permitting the IRS to contact a third party to discuss your return. Otherwise, you will leave it blank.
How to correct this error:
From our homepage, click on "sign in" to enter the username and password to access your account. Select the current year return that is rejected.
Click the Other Forms tab and scroll down to th to the Third-Party Designation at the bottom of the page. The only characters allowed for the Third Party Designee are letters, single spaces and hyphens. The only characters allowed for the Pin Number are numbers. Your Pin Number can be any five digit number you choose except for all zeros.
Once you have made your correction you will then save and continue to the end of your return and resubmit.
