Locate the “Account Profile” tab on the black tool bar at the top of the web-based software.
This tab contains all of your business contact information, it is important to make sure all of your business information is correct.
Smart Tools inputs basic information, but it is important that you review it and input the most current data. Select Account Profile on the black tab bar at the top of the Smart Tools Web Page. Review and update your business information. The information input here is what will be in all of your letters and forms created using the on-line software. Make sure you have a phone number where you can be easily reached, and ideally an email address also.
The web-based software requires something in the “Company Name” field as this creates letterhead for all of your letters. The Small Business Administration (www.sba.gov
) states that by default, the legal name of a business is the name of the person or entity that owns a business. If you are a sole owner of a business, its legal name is your full name. So if you choose not to register a “Doing Business As (DBA)” name you should input your business type in the “Company Name” field: Independent Refund Processor. Note: you can change the information on the Account Profile tab at any time.
You set your default processing fee here as well. Unless you change it, the default is .25, which is 25% of the borrowers refund. If you want to change the default processing fee, enter the number as a decimal, i.e. .15 (for 15%)
You may also change your password* at anytime on the Account Profile Tab; choose a password that is memorable and at least 8 characters long. Be sure to click UPDATE to save changes, every time you update your information on the Account Profile Tab.
*Note: You are required to change your password the first time you make updates to the Account Profile Tab. The password assigned by Smart Tools is a default, using your zip code as a permanent password is not recommended.
